Why You Should Do The Big Chop?

These are the 5 Immediate benefits you will get!

I have to confess, I am a big fan of instant gratification and the Big Chop worked out just perfectly for me. I get that not everyone might be like this but wait! There is a lot more you can get from doing the big chop.

The first thing is like I said, Immediate Gratification

It felt so freeing when I did my Big Chop, like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I felt like I was on top of the world and nothing could bring me down.

I understand that it cannot be the same for everyone, especially if it wasn’t by choice or as a result of frustration but I promise that it does get better.

Now you have to deal with just one hair texture

I used to have that feeling of PANIC when I began to see new growth underneath my relaxed hair. It irked me and I wouldn’t be settled until I’d achieved the same texture all through by relaxing my hair. This was stressful to say the least and the Big Chop provided a way out. Getting all the chemically treated chopped off meant I now had to deal with just one hair texture and with time, I can say that I’ve mastered to a point, my hair needs and how to properly take care of it. It’s amazing to say the least because it is easier to manage as well.

You get to start from scratch and build up

Know what they say about little beginnings? The big chop is one experience that will make you appreciate it even better. For you, it’s a fresh and healthy start.
Growing your natural hair from scratch means you get to grow with it, know what texture it is and what products it needs, how it reacts in different weathers and believe me when I say it is such a different and uniquely satisfying experience (minus the struggles of course. LOL)

Of course you will have to do a little experimenting here and there to find what works for you and after a few trials and errors (which are all part of the experience, trust me), you will be a master (kinda) of your mane.

You’re shopping for just one hair texture

This is such an underrated blessing! Dealing with multiple textures (for those who don’t get their peeking natural undergrowth relaxed immediately) can be so stressful. Managing just your natural hair gives you the freedom to focus on just your natural texture alone and really figure out what products really work and which ones don’t.

It gives you confidence like never before

Now this one is such a big deal. I was one of those people that gave a great deal of importance to hair length. I was so scared of cutting my hair and kept wondering what I would look like with short hair. What if I was ugly? Or people didn’t like my look? Or if I didn’t like my own look?

Then I finally did and the feeling was everything on the other side of fear. I felt like I could do anything because I let go of this one thing that I thought I couldn’t do without.

P.S - They don’t tell you this but short hair means you get low maintenance for at least 6 months to a year. Yay!

So you see, getting the Big Chop might be one of the best things that happens to you, just like me. However, I understand that the experience is not the same for everyone - some people prefer to transition slowly to get a bit of length before trimming it off in stages. That is perfectly fine and I even wrote a helpful article about it here

In the end, they all lead to the same destination and that is the goal, right? Just figure out what works for you and you’ll be alright.
